The additional services given on this page are provided by Visa Application Centre and the prices given are in addition to the visa application fee and service fee. These Optional additional services can be availed at the Visa Application Centre when you submit your application.

On Demand Mobile Visa (All India)

We are pleased to offer you our new “On Demand Mobile Visa” to submit your visa application in your home or office.

Schedule an appointment and we will collect your passport,visa application form, documents and biometric data at the place of your choice. Once the application is processed, we will return you the passport via courier.

Please note: The option of using Mobile Biometrics Service does NOT exempt the Consulate’s right to ask the applicants to come for an interview in person , submission of additional document or re-biometric should the Consulate find it necessary.

Premium Service Lounge (Optional)

The VFS Global Premium Service Lounge facility is available at the Joint Schengen Visa Application Centre in Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore ,Hyderabad and Cochin. The Premium Lounge Service includes:

  Separate lounge with personalized service by dedicated staff
  Faster submission of applications at the visa application center
  Courier return of passport
  SMS alert on the status of your application
  Photo booth and photo copying service of your documents

Important note: Your visa application will be processed and decided by the Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai. Use of the Premium Service Lounge does not affect the processing time of your application. All applicants will be required to follow the instructions on applying for a visa, which can be found on the ‘Home Page’ on this website.

What does it cost?

The Premium Service Lounge facility costs Rs.2,000 (inclusive of taxes) per applicant. This charge is in addition to the Diplomatic Missions Visa application fees & the VFS logistic fee.

SMS Service

The SMS service updates customers in India on the movement of the passport. This is followed up with an automated email message to the applicants email informing them of the status of their visa application. The SMS text is available in English.

This service can be purchased for INR 80/- (inclusive of Service tax) at the time an applicant submits the visa application. The form can be downloaded in the comfort of home and filled in before going to the visa application centre.

Courier Service

The Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai has implemented a change in arrangements for the collection of passport from visa application centres in West and South India. With effect from 2 March 2015, it will no longer be possible for third parties to collect the documents on behalf of an applicant, except in the following cases:

  A parent collecting for a dependent child.
  One member of a group collecting for the entire group.
  A person collecting on behalf of Govt. officials if authorized on the Govt. letter head or department
  Representative of a company ( Priority and Fast-track applicants only) - Authorization letter on the letter head of the company and the official ID card

If either of the above comes for passport collection they need to carry the following documents

  Copy of Govt ID card
  Original ICR
  Authorisation Letter

W.e.f. 02March 2015, it is mandatory to opt for courier if the either the applicant or any of the above mentioned third parties will not be collecting the passport . The courier form needs to be completely filled and duly signed by the applicant/ travel agent or representative.

The courier form should have the address of the applicants residence or office only. The courier address will not be that of the travel agency.
In case an applicant wants to personally collect the passport from the VFS office then s/he does not require to opt for courier.
The courier service is available for an additional fee of INR 300/- (inclusive of Service tax).(INR 510 per courier for applications submitted in Cochin)

Form Filling Service

Applicants can now get their Visa Application Form filled-in at the Italy Visa Application Centre. The charges are INR 100/- (inclusive of all taxes).This service is unavailable in South of India (Bangalore , Chennai, cochin & Hyderabad)

Video Conferencing

The Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai, for the convenience of applicants in West & South Of India has initiated a Video Conferencing service for those applicants who are called for a personal interview at the Consulate thereby eliminating the need to travel to Mumbai for the interview.

The Video conferencing service is currently available at VFS Global centres in Ahmedabad, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad at an additional charge of INR938/- .

Kindly note that this service is provided an alternative option to appearing personally for the interview in Mumbai, however the Consulate at its discretion could ask for a personal interview.


  The above service offerings are optional.
  The fees mentioned is inclusive of Goods and Services tax SGST @9% and CGST @9%.
  All the fees are payable in cash at the time of submitting your application.
  Applicants are requested to collect appropriate receipts while opting for these services.

Courier Assurance

This is an optional top-up insurance that you can purchase with a courier service, covering your documents for up 500 USD of enhanced compensation.

The Premium Courier Service is an optional service to accompany your purchase of Courier Return with a charge of INR 400/-.

Compensation under the standard Courier Return service covers only the cost of replacing the lost or stolen document upon evidence of receipts, see terms and conditions

However, this Premium Courier Service offers applicants an additional fixed lump sum of 500 USD to cover any other costs caused in the event of damage or loss in transit during document transportation.

Payment of 500 USD will be made upon confirmation of the loss or damage of the documents but no proof of other losses is necessary.
